I was always disappointed in discussions of politics in current affairs in China. Its not that there are restrictions on topics, (of course on blogs and in public there are), but actually the state controlled media brainwashes the population so much that it really is not worth trying for a dialectic. Nevertheless some of 钉子吧 customers are as close as you can get to Nanjing's intelligentsia and nothing highlights this more then the bar's mural:

George W. Bush, with Jiang Zemin and Lenin sharing a beer and a cigarette. Yao Ming and Lei Feng eating fast food and Bin Laden serving up his speciality, a hand grenade. Most important of course is that it is first and foremost a Jazz bar.
